THE TEAM
Meet the Team
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced competitor, our coaches have seen and worked with similar people before. Your training experience is their number one priority.

Dan is a qualified Physiotherapist with a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy and has worked with BJJ athletes and martial artists for injury recovery and training since 2011.

Born and raised in CHCH Jimi started training in 2011 under Karl Webber, turning pro in 2014. He's competed internationally for multiple titles even competing against one of the MMA G.O.A.T’s Alex Volkanovski for the AFC Featherweight title.
He's been sponsored and competed with the Fairtex fight team in Thailand in 2019 earning an opportunity for a ONE championship contract prior to COVID shutting down the world.
Now his focus is on building the next generation of kickboxing and MMA stars in the Canterbury and Selwyn regions.
On-top of all of these accolades he's an amazing personal trainer, approachable coach and a stand up human being.
Jimi leads our Adults and Kids kickboxing and MMA programmes at Selwyn Combat under the mighty Universal Vale Tudo team.

He attended 4 world championships from 2006 to 2010 whilst training in North Ossetia, Russia near Dagestan for 4 years culminating in a Commonwealth games appearance in 2010.
Whilst there he was the only non-Russian under the tutelage of Savili Bazarov a USSR Master of Sport (trust me google that guy!! Insane Wrestling!)
He then competed at the Commonwealth Games again in 2014 alongside his student Sam Belkin another Canterbury great and Axis Coach who won a Bronze medal for NZ.
On top of all this he's a multiple time NZ and Oceanian Champ, the head coach of another wrestling team winning multiple NZ national trophies and he's just a straight up awesome, approachable and nice dude!

He is a multiple time NZ champ and Oceania champ and has been a member of the NZ Judo team for 7 years. He has attended the world champs at every age level being the only NZ athlete to do so.

She loves helping people build strength, move well and feel good in their bodies. Her go-to style of training is strength-based with a bit of conditioning thrown in - simple effective and built to last.
She is all about meeting people where they are at, keeping bodies moving for the long haul and making sure the gym feels like a place everyone belongs.

He began training at the CFC under Karl Webber and the other amazing coaches there. Since then he has competed in BJJ, kick-boxing, boxing and MMA. Finding success in all!
Aengus plans on continuing his active competitive schedule and is looking forward to turning pro in the near future.

I’ve spent the last few years working across pretty much every side of the fitness industry — from personal training and club management to teaching future trainers and helping people make real lifestyle change.
I’ve coached members from all backgrounds and circumstances and worked closely with people navigating health and behaviour change both inside and outside the gym.
Outside of the gym, I run an online coaching business focused on habit and behaviour change, helping everyday people build strength, confidence, and long-term results that actually last, enjoy the odd round of golf and also have another business that helps small businesses utilise AI.
In my classes, you can expect a relaxed environment, good energy, and encouragement to push yourself in a way that feels challenging but achievable.
